"Larry" Dillon Dies, Once Kieth Circuit Vaudevillian
Laurence M. Dillon, 89, or 18 Homer Ave., died in the Cortland Memorial Hospital Sunday afternoon.
He was a resident of Cortland, born here May 13, 1875, the son of Michael and Mary Fitzgerald Dillon.
In his early life he was in vaudeville with his brother John playing throughout the United States with the B.F. Keith Circuit.
In 1907 he and two brothers purchased the Cortland Theatre and he served as manager until it was sold in 1919.
The Dillon brothers also operated a dance hall over the location which is now occupied by Payne Bros. and McGraw and Elliots.
Mr. Dillon then became proprietor of an outdoor advertising agency from which he retired in 1950.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, member of the Holy Name Society, life member of the BPOE 748 and a member of the Cortland Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Arla Garrison Dillon of Cortland; two sons, J. Cameron Dillon of Louisville, Ky.; Garrison L. Dillon of Amsterdam, N.Y.; three grandchildren; Pamela Dillon of Amsterdam; Anthony Dillon of Louisville, Ky.; Mrs. James Reebals, Miami, Fla.; three brothers, William Dillon of Ithaca; Augustus of Cortland and Arthur Dillon of Daytona Beach, Fla.
Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
